In an unusual move, Marshall E. (Mark) Drummond, chancellor of the California community-college system, has announced that he will leave his statewide leadership post to return to his old job as chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District.
Mr. Drummond, who left Los Angeles for the statewide post in late 2003, said in a written statement on Wednesday that he had “mixed emotions about leaving the system office,” but did not say why he was making that move. He added, however, that he was “excited to return to Los Angeles knowing that I have made a contribution to the system and the state.”
