A Cornell University psychology professor who teaches one of the largest lecture courses anywhere has returned to his longtime venue on the campus after it underwent a $17.3-million renovation, and the renewal, he says, was exciting enough to keep him from retiring. James B. Maas, whom The Chronicle profiled in 2003 in a feature on academics who teach huge courses, has drawn 1,325 students to Psychology 101 this term. According to an article in The Post-Standard, a newspaper in Syracuse, N.Y., Mr. Maas, 68, now does not plan to retire. “I’m like a kid in a candy store,” he told the newspaper.
