Two groups are looking into allegations that the chairman of the University System of Maryland’s Board of Regents, David H. Nevins, violated an ethics policy by lobbying state legislators on behalf of the state’s largest energy company, for which he is the chief marketing officer, today’s Baltimore Sun is reporting. The groups are the Maryland State Ethics Commission and a subcommittee of the Board of Regents, and their inquiries stem from complaints made last month (The Chronicle, March 3). Mr. Nevins has denied that his meetings with lawmakers constituted lobbying.
