Catholic U. Web Site Helps Colleges Comply With Federal Regulations
For colleges and universities, complying with federal regulations and laws can be a tall order. Almost 200 statutes -- affecting a range of issues, including hiring regulations, intellectual property, and foreign-student tracking -- are currently on the books, according to Craig W. Parker, general counsel for Catholic University of America.
The sheer number of laws can pose a problem for general-counsel offices like Mr. Parker's, which has only two other lawyers on its staff.
