Catholic Theologians Ask Bishops to Protect Their Rights Under New Vatican Policy

The Catholic Theological Society of America has called on bishops in the United States to adopt clear protections for theologians facing the Vatican's new requirement that each receive a mandatum, or approval, from the local bishop.

Among other things, the society wants bishops to presume that theologians are entitled to the mandatum, unless there is strong evidence otherwise;
