Carnegie Program Will Examine Political Engagement Among College Students

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, concerned about reports of growing apathy among young people toward politics, is creating a program aimed at identifying ways to draw students into the political process.

"We're hoping to get a better sense of what really works to engage students," said Anne Colby, a senior scholar at the foundation, who will co-direct the Political Engagement Project. It will follow the progress of 21 courses and programs at colleges across
