Canada Fails in Efforts to Draw More Degree-Seeking Students From Abroad
Canada's efforts to attract more foreign students to degree programs at its universities are failing.
Fewer students from other countries are enrolled at postsecondary institutions in Canada now than at the start of the decade. Of special concern to educators is a sharp decline in the number of foreign graduate students -- down 13 per cent since 1992. Foreign enrollment in doctoral programs has dropped 25 per cent in the same period.
