Caltech Receives Pledges of $600-Million From Alumnus and His Foundation
A pioneer in computer technology and his wife have pledged gifts totaling $600-million to the California Institute of Technology, the largest private donation ever to an institution of higher education.
Gordon Moore, a co-founder of the Intel Corporation, and his wife, Betty, have promised $300-million over five years to the university. The couple's nonprofit foundation has pledged an additional $300-million over 10 years.
