California Won't Revise Controversial Standards for Science Curricula

A dozen U.S. scientific societies this month blasted California's proposed standards for science curricula in public schools, and recommended that a panel of six nationally known scientists rewrite the requirements.

But the state's Board of Education rejected the recommendation, and was expected to approve the standards next month.
