California Votes Down Community-College Ballot Measure

An overwhelming majority of Californians voted on Tuesday to reject Proposition 92, a measure that would have guaranteed more money for the state's community-college system and lowered student fees.

The outcome was a disappointment for California's 109 two-year institutions at a time when the state faces a financial crisis that could lead to cuts in education spending.
