California Voters Approve a $2.3-Billion Bond Measure for Higher Education
By a narrow margin, California voters last week approved a bond measure that will give the state's public colleges and universities $2.3-billion for construction projects through 2006.
Voters also approved two other budget-reform measures that were strongly advocated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and supported by college leaders.
The education-bond measure, known as Proposition 55, passed by 50.6 percent to 49.4 percent. The margin was about 58,000 votes out of more than 5.5
