California Vote on Racial-Data Measure May Be Delayed

California voters may have to wait to cast their votes on a measure that, if approved, would prevent public colleges and other state entities from collecting and using information on race and ethnicity.

The measure, Proposition 54, was slated to appear on the ballot on October 7, when state residents had been scheduled to go to the polls to decide whether to remove Gov. Gray Davis, a Democrat, from office.
