California State Senator Picked to Lead Community Colleges
A California state senator and former college president has been named chancellor of the state's community-college system.
Sen. Jack Scott, 74, a Democrat who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, will become leader of the 109-campus system on January 1, 2009, when his Senate term ends, the college system's Board of Governors announced on Thursday.
