California Governor Vetoes Aid for Illegal Immigrants
Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California, has vetoed bills intended to make college more affordable for many illegal immigrants and to curb executive-compensation packages for California State University administrators.
The bill dealing with illegal immigrants would have made some eligible for the state's need-based aid program and for fee waivers provided to low-income students at community colleges. In his veto message, Mr. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, said it was not "prudent"
