California Art Colleges Opt Against a Merger

After three months of discussions, officials of the San Francisco Art Institute and the California College of Arts and Crafts have decided that a merger wouldn't be a good idea after all.
"I don't think there was any one thing" that brought an end to the talks, says Simon J. Blattner, chairman of the Board of Trustees at the arts and crafts college. "It just felt better for us to keep going on our own."
