California State University’s faculty union has filed a lawsuit that seeks to block Barry Munitz, a former chancellor of the system, from taking a new job as a professor with planning and development duties as well, the Associated Press reported. Mr. Munitz, who was ousted in February as head of the J. Paul Getty Trust, took office this month through a program that makes it easy for former Cal State executives to return as professors (The Chronicle, May 1). The lawsuit says his hiring should have been discussed at a public meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees.
