Cal State Says Student-Remediation Needs Are Coming Under Control
Some interesting remediation data out of California State University last week:
* About 79 per cent of first-time freshmen who needed remedial course work a year ago -- 15,240 of 19,237 students -- had completed it by this fall, when most of those who hadn't would otherwise have had to leave the university.
* Of the 4,000 students who still needed remediation, 1,440 had "disenrolled." Among the reasons: They had not completed the required courses, or
