CUNY Graduate Center Adds Philosophers; Social Psychology Makes a Comeback at Yale; 'Women in Cell Biology' Award Goes to a Man

CUNY FIGHTS BACK: The City University of New York lost several high-profile philosophers to in-town rival New York University in the late 1990s. Now the CUNY Graduate Center's philosophy program is on the rise, with several recent hires.

The most prominent is Saul Kripke, a former Princeton University professor, who is joining CUNY full time this fall. Mr. Kripke, 62, has been a visiting professor there in recent years, and is the 2001 winner of the Schock Prize in Logic and Philosophy
