Bush's Tactics and Gore's Reticence Keep College Leaders From Feeling Enthusiastic About the Democratic Candidate
The reports this spring that the president of Wesleyan University had made a donation to the campaign of Gov. George W. Bush, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, upset some students on the traditionally liberal campus.
But President Douglas J. Bennet Jr.'s qualms about Vice President Al Gore's candidacy are not uncommon among college presidents and campus leaders across the country. Many say they are unenthused.
