Bush Nominates Johns Hopkins Dean to Lead NIH
President Bush last week formally nominated Elias A. Zerhouni, executive vice dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, to become director of the National Institutes of Health.
Mr. Bush also reached into academe for another key public-health position when he nominated Richard H. Carmona, a professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, as surgeon general.
