Budget Will Rise for Arts and Humanities Endowments
While advocates for science research lobby lawmakers for billion-dollar increases, officials at the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities are celebrating a more modest accomplishment: the rise of their budgets by a few million dollars each.
The N.E.H. will have a budget of $120-million in the 2001 fiscal year, a $5-million increase. This marks the second year in a row the endowment received an additional $5-million, following four years of flat financing. The budget falls
