Budget Increase for Louisiana Colleges

Louisiana's public colleges and universities will get a $160-million increase in state support under a spending plan approved by the State Legislature, but institutions that experienced steep cuts last fall in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita should not expect their budgets to be restored on a "dollar-for-dollar basis," the state's higher-education commissioner said.
