Brown U. and MCI WorldCom Join to Help Colleges Try to Close the Digital Divide
Brown University and MCI WorldCom announced last month that they will award grants totaling $5-million to finance 20 college-community partnerships that seek to help familiarize low-income children with technology and the sciences.
The partnerships will bring colleges together with schools and community learning centers in their areas. Each partnership will receive about $40,000 a year, renewable for up to five years, plus hardware and expenses for narrowing
