Brock Read is Web editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education, leading development, design, and management of the online site, e-mail newsletters, forums, comments, and social-media outreach. He also oversees multimedia reporting and hosts “AfterWord,” a podcast featuring interviews with Chronicle reporters and academics.
Since joining The Chronicle in 2001, Read has also served as the newspaper's first Web producer—he worked extensively on a major site redesign in 2008-9—and as a reporter covering campus technology. While serving as a reporter, he ran the Wired Campus blog and covered the rise of Wikipedia and Facebook; more recently he has profiled campus radio stations and collegiate croquet contests.
A native of rural western New York, Read earned a bachelor's degree in art history from Williams College.
