British Study Urges European Universities to Raise or Introduce Tuition
Overly centralized national bureaucracies are largely responsible for a crisis in European higher education, according to a study by a British think tank.
The report, published this month by the Centre for European Reform, notes that only two European universities appear among the world's top 10 in a recent ranking and that less than a quarter of Europe's working-age population has completed postsecondary education, compared with 38 percent of Americans.
