Britain's Open University Plans to Hold a Virtual Commencement
Britain's Open University, a pioneer in distance education, will conduct its first virtual commencement this month. The vice chancellor, Sir John Daniel, will stand in an auditorium surrounded by professors in academic dress, but the room will be empty of students. They are invited to view live video of the March 31 ceremony on the World Wide Web, and to receive their certificates online.
