Britain Licenses Stem-Cell Production
The British government said in August that it had awarded its first license permitting scientists to conduct "therapeutic cloning" -- the creation of stem cells for research from cloned human embryos.
The move is another step by Britain to create a more permissive atmosphere for stem-cell research than exists in the United States. The British government has also provided money for a wider range of human stem-cell colonies, or lines, than has the Bush
