Brazilian Police Make Arrests in Murder of U. of Vermont Professor

Brazilian police officers have arrested a former military-police officer and his son on charges that they led a gang that killed James B. Petersen, chairman of the University of Vermont's department of anthropology, during a robbery last month at a restaurant in Iranduba, Brazil.

The former officer, Ronaldo Costa dos Santos, and his son, Rodolfo Romerito, were found September 3 outside the city of Manaus, in the country's north, ending a 21-day manhunt. Three men arrested immediately
