Boston College Student Drops Challenge to Recording-Industry Subpoena
A Boston College student has given up her legal challenge to a controversial provision of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that lets copyright owners subpoena the names of suspected copyright violators without the approval of a federal judge.
The student's decision was part of an out-of-court settlement with the Recording Industry Association of America. Under the settlement, she agreed to stop fighting an association subpoena that had demanded that the college reveal her identity.
