Book Examines a College That Nurtures Woman Writers
When it came time for Nancy C. Parrish to write her dissertation at the College of William and Mary, the topic seemed obvious to her. She had always loved the novels of Lee Smith for their tender portrayal of life in Grundy, the novelist's hometown in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. As a Virginian herself, Ms. Parrish identified with the Southern women in the novels.
