The following institutions had their bond ratings upgraded during April. Ratings, which reflect the relative financial strength of institutions, help determine their cost of borrowing.
- Alabama State University, by Standard & Poor's, from A– to A. Applies to about $140-million in new and outstanding debt. Reasons cited include a trend of operating surpluses, support from the state of Alabama,
