The University of Southern Maine will reopen at 7 p.m. after a bomb threat earlier today shut down all three of its campuses, according to a news release issued by the university. The threat was the second in two days to affect the university, the MaineToday.com Web site reported, at a time when all levels of education are on edge because of the series of shooting rampages in elementary and secondary schools and one college in recent weeks (The Chronicle, September 14 and September 15).
