Bolivia's Youngest University Struggles to Stay on Its Feet
Last month several hundred far-left students stormed a meeting of the governing council of the Public University of El Alto, assaulting council members who tried to resist the invasion. With threats of further violence, they succeeded in forcing the rector, vice rector, and another senior administrator to resign.
The attack was the latest in a series of tumultuous, and occasionally violent, events at Bolivia's youngest public institution of higher education.
