A body found early today in an Iowa City park is probably that of Arthur H. Miller, the University of Iowa political-science professor who was facing bribery charges stemming from allegations that he solicited sexual favors from female students in exchange for better grades, The Des Moines Register reported. Mr. Miller disappeared into the park on Tuesday and was believed to be carrying a high-powered rifle. His family later issued a statement saying they feared he was dead.
Law-enforcement officials had searched the park for two days before calling off the search on Thursday night. A retired deputy searching on his own this morning located the body of a man resembling Mr. Miller. Officials did not reveal the cause of death, and Sgt. Mike Brotherton of the Iowa City Police told the Register that authorities were still trying to identify the body. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. —Charles Huckabee
