Board Admonishes Tennessee State U. President
Tennessee State University's president, James Hefner, has been stripped of his authority over an honors program that he has used to recruit several hundred students from outside the state to attend the college.
The state's Board of Regents took the action this month, telling Mr. Hefner that he had allowed too many out-of-state students to enroll in the program at the in-state tuition rate.
