Black Female Athletes Still Scarce in College Sports

I read with interest the article "Left Behind" (November 30). ... The article leads me to believe that the author and the staff of The Chronicle think that Title IX is a failure.

When I look at the system of delivering sports to children, I find that the sports of lacrosse, rowing, golf, and soccer are delivered in the suburban communities at an earlier age and with more support than in urban or rural areas. Likewise, these sports were and are the logical
