Bioethics Council Suggests Compromises and Restrictions for Embryo Research
President Bush's bioethics council released a report last week that five council members said offered support for easing the president's policy limiting federal financing for human embryonic stem-cell research.
The debate over stem cells, though, is hardly over. In a separate statement, five other members of the 18-member panel wrote that its recommendations were consistent with the president's existing policy, which limits funds to studies involving stem-cell colonies, or "lines,"
