Binge Drinking With Friends

To the Editor:

Kenneth A. Bruffee ties binge drinking on college campuses to the need for friendship and sociability, and suggests "collaborative learning" as one approach to the problem ("Binge Drinking as a Substitute for a 'Community of Learning,'" Opinion, February 5). This is not at all a far-fetched proposal.
