Billionaire Couple Doubles $100-Million Pledge to Harvard-MIT Biomedical Institute

In 2003 Eli and Edythe Broad pledged $100-million to create a biomedical-research center. Last week they offered another $100-million to what is now named the Broad Institute, a joint endeavor of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Broads' first gift to the institute was made to MIT. The second $100-million will be given through Harvard. The combined donation will consist of annual $20-million payments over the next 10 years.
