Washington State's House of Representatives has approved a bill that gives faculty members at the state's public four-year colleges the right to collectively bargain -- but only if they get rid of their faculty senates. In a twist, faculty unions had encouraged lawmakers to approve the measure, in hopes that the governor would strike the provision against faculty senates.
