Bill May Force Many Colleges to Teach About the Constitution

Mark your calendars: Next September 17, all colleges that receive federal aid are likely to be required to offer instruction on the U.S. Constitution.

Sen. Robert C. Byrd, a Democrat from West Virginia, inserted last-minute language into a 3,000-page spending bill designating the date as Constitution and Citizenship Day and requiring any educational institution that receives federal funds to hold a program about the Constitution on that day.
