Bill Introduced to Limit Mascot Ban
New legislation in Congress would limit the ability of the National Collegiate Athletic Association to crack down on colleges whose athletics teams have American Indian mascots and nicknames that the association deems to be hostile and abusive.
The bill, introduced by lawmakers from states where mascots have caused controversy, would also allow colleges to sue the association if it punishes them for violating its mascot policy.
