Big Ten to Start Its Own TV Network

The Big Ten Conference plans to start its own cable-television network next year.

The league also announced a 10-year agreement with ABC and ESPN to continue televising many of its marquee football and men's basketball games, including the annual Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.

The Big Ten, which is in partnership with Fox Cable Networks in the venture, will be the first conference to try to build a national network. The Mountain West Conference will start a regional channel this
