Big Ten Faculty Group Calls for Reform in College Sports

A committee of faculty members at universities in the Big Ten Conference passed a resolution last month calling on their institutions to tone down the commercialism and lower the financial stakes in big-time college sports.

Meeting under the auspices of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, an academic consortium that includes the 11 Big Ten institutions plus the University of Chicago, the group agreed to present the resolution to faculty senates on its campuses in the next
