Berkeley's Collaboration With Swiss Company Is on the Verge of Ending
The University of California at Berkeley's $25-million "research alliance" with a Swiss biotechnology company -- one of the biggest and most controversial collaborations between industry and academe -- is likely to come to a close soon.
Berkeley's partner in the four-year-old collaboration has been a division of Syngenta called the Torrey Mesa Research Institute, in San Diego. In December, Syngenta -- the successor company to Berkeley's original partner, Novartis
