Bequest to U. of Texas Reaches $232-Million
Officials of the University of Texas at Austin were delighted last year to accept a retired oilman's bequest with an estimated value of $150-million. Now, it turns out, the estate is worth $232-million, university officials said.
The bequest, from John A. (Jack) Jackson, an alumnus, was already the second-largest gift to a public university when it was announced last year.
Now that its worth has shot up by more than half, the gift is just shy of what was then a record
