Bennington Settles With and Apologizes to Professors It Dismissed
Ending a five-year legal battle over academic freedom and self-governance, Bennington College agreed last month to pay $1.89-million to 17 people fired as professors in 1994 -- and to apologize to them.
"The college sincerely regrets the profound disruption of the faculty members' professional careers and personal lives caused by the termination of their employment," the officials said in a statement.
