Bates College Finds Few Differences Among Students Admitted Under Its SAT-Optional Policy

The latest volley in the debate over the use of standardized tests in admissions comes from a liberal-arts college in Maine.

Last week Bates College released the findings of a 20-year study of its SAT-optional admissions policy.

Bates found virtually no difference between the academic performances of students who submitted SAT scores and those who did not. The two groups also had the same graduation rates.
