Ballot Proposal to Revive Governing Board for Florida Universities Is Challenged
Florida's attorney general is challenging a ballot initiative intended to resurrect a central governing board for the state's public universities.
Last week, Attorney General Robert A. Butterworth sent the state Supreme Court a letter urging it to strike down the proposed referendum. He argued that the measure is vague, and calls for broader changes in state government than Florida's constitution allows through such ballot initiatives.
