Balancing Intellectual Activities and Other Pursuits of College Students
To the Editor:
While there is probably much truth to the idea that we don't sufficiently challenge students, I find some aspects of Stuart Rojstaczer's essay to be very troubling ("When Intellectual Life Is Optional for Students," The Review, April 20).
It is a reflection on our society that we assume one must be 100 percent dedicated to a task in order to be serious about it. We are fast becoming a nation of workaholics. Statistics show that we take less vacation time than
